hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.

also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.

anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!

Hi beautiful people of Tumblr!

I am going to start graduate studies this coming semester and I am just toying around with the idea of having my thesis have something to do with fanfiction and language. Fanfiction isn’t really a popular thesis topic here in my country, so easily finding related lit. would be so out of the question. :)

I already did a paper during my undergrad which talked about university students’ perception of hentai. So I was wondering, if I want to merge fanfiction and language in my master’s thesis, maybe I could follow the same vein as I did in that paper. Oh well…

Any suggestions? It would really be of help.

Hello there, Rie. I was merely stating my opinion. Never was it stated in that post that slash is wrong nor homosexuality. Never was it also stated that I was shipping a heterosexual pair in the movie/book canon either. There was nothing in that statement that equates homosexuality with sex, otherness nor risque behavior.

Yes, I don’t slash Narnia and I was just saying it. My mere posting of that statement does not guarantee that I am acting uppity about my opinion. I was, at the time of writing that post, trying to get the message across to those who would read it and it was never my intention to come across as someone who is belittling those who actually slash the original literature/movie adaptations.
